Overview
The town of Cariquima is located 27km south from Colchane on route A-357. About 300 people are permanent inhabitants of this town, although you might spot only a couple of them. The town has a Church (National monument), square, rural health post with a paramedic, a few grocery shops, school, hostals and a small museum just on the side of the square. There is a semi-permanent military station as well.

There are 6 rooms available, they are administrated by Mrs. Fresia and Mr. Leonel (Spanish spoken only); all room have private bathrooms with hot water shower.
Double rooms; with one double bed or two single beds. They come with bed sheets, pillow and blankets.
Triple room; with three single beds.
None of the rooms has heating; however beds have heavy blankets.
Food
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available. A meal should cost between CLP$3,000 to CLP$5,500 per person and I would consist on a soup or salad plus a main dish.
While tea or herbal infusions might be included, soft drinks and instant coffee are not.
Local Guide
There are local guides in town but they are not permanent residents so you need to book in advance.

- There are a few basic grocery shops in town (one located inside the hostal).
- No WIFI (hotspot might be available for clients at the hostal).
- No public phone.
- Rural health post.
- Public VHF/UHF radio.
- Limited electricity for a few hours at night.
- Tap water is safe to drink.
- It is possible to buy fuel per gallon. Ask at the hostal.
Responsible Behavior
No drugs, loud music or heavy drinking are allowed. Please, smoke in open areas away from the houses.
Only cash (Chilean pesos) are accepted at the Inn.
